Imam Reza (peace be upon him) said:

"Whenever the month of Muharram began, my father (Imam Musa al-Kadhim, peace be upon him) would never be seen laughing. Overwhelming grief would dominate him until ten days of the month had passed. When the tenth day (Ashura) came, it would be the day of his affliction, sorrow, and weeping. He would say: 'This is the day on which Husayn (peace be upon him) was killed.'"
