Narration from Imam al-Sadiq (pbuh):

I asked him: "What is intellect (Aql)?" He replied: "That by which the All-Merciful (al-Rahman) is worshipped, and Paradise is attained." I said: "Then what was in Muawiyah?" He said: "That is al-Nakira (evil craftiness), al-Shaytanah (satanic cunning); it resembles intellect but is not intellect."
